I am a Consultant Respiratory Physician based in Portsmouth specialising in the assessment, investigation and and treatment of patients with breathing problems. My patients often come to see me with symptoms such as breathlessness, persistent cough or wheeze. I have extensive experience in diagnosing and managing a wide range of respiratory conditions with particular expertise in asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and chronic cough. I believe that the best care starts with listening. I take the time to understand each patient's concerns, explain diagnoses and treatment options clearly, and ensure they feel fully involved in making decisions about their care. My aim is to provide an accurate diagnosis, a personalised treatment plan and ongoing support to help patients regain confidence in their breathing and improve their quality of life.

I have been a Consultant Respiratory Physician at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust since 2015. For the past seven years, I have led the nationally commissioned Portsmouth Severe Asthma Centre, where I have overseen the introduction of biologic therapies that have transformed the lives of many patients with severe asthma. My wider NHS practice encompasses the full range of respiratory medicine, allowing me to provide specialist assessment and management for patients with diverse and complex breathing conditions.

Alongside my clinical work, I am actively involved in respiratory research with the goal of improving patient care. I am the Deputy Chief Research Officer at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust and was appointed as an Honorary Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the University of Portsmouth in 2025. I lead a nationally recognised respiratory research programme, with particular interests in developing better diagnostic tests and advancing new treatments for asthma and COPD. By combining clinical practice with research, I ensure that my patients benefit from the latest evidence and advances in respiratory medicine.

Teaching and training future doctors are also important parts of my work. As lead for respiratory training across the Wessex region, I oversee the education and development of future respiratory specialists. I also serve as Deputy Director of the new undergraduate medical programme at the University of Portsmouth, delivered in partnership with King's College London, helping to train the next generation of doctors.

Whether you have developed a new breathing problem, have a persistent cough, are struggling with poorly controlled asthma or are living with a long-term respiratory condition, I am committed to providing expert, compassionate and individualised care. My goal is to help you understand your condition, improve your symptoms and achieve the best possible long-term health and quality of life.
