Anthony Parrish, 55 had a total hip replacement with consultant orthopaedic surgeon Mr Aaron Ng.

Fishing is one of Mr Parrish’s hobbies, and it's where he started to notice a pain in his leg and hip. It was suggested that a hip replacement might help ease the pain, however he decided against it and carried on with the symptoms for another seven years before finally deciding he needed to have the surgery. With the help of friends and internet research he decided to see Mr Aaron Ng at Spire Methley Park Hospital in June 2016.

Mr Ng confirmed the diagnosis; he would benefit from a total hip replacement.

With a phased return to work he began his recovery.

How does he feel now?

Anthony says: “My leg feels a little strange, but the muscle has to repair itself. I now walk without pain."

His advice to patients in the same situation? "Get it done sooner rather than later."
