I perform all routine arthroscopic procedures of the knee such as meniscectomy as well as hip and knee replacement surgery.
I completed my medical training in 1991 and finished my postgraduate training in orthopaedics in 1998 in Hungary. I did my basic surgical training in Hull and East Riding and then fellowship training in lower limb arthroplasty in Bradford. This was followed by a fellowship at Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Hospital in Oswestry, Queen Medical Centre Nottingham, Karlsbad Langensteinbach Germany and Spinal Foundation in Rochdale. I am based on the NHS at Barnsley General Hospital as a specialist hip and knee arthroplasty surgeon with an interest in complex revision.
I perform all aspects of hip arthroplasty including the use of ceramic bearings in the young patient group. In revision hip surgery I utilise a variety of surgical techniques such as extended trochanteric osteotomies and trochanteric slides for exposure. I am competent at pelvic revision techniques such as using mesh and reinforcement rings along with impaction bone grafting for cemented sockets.
I also use uncemented sockets and bulk allograft when appropriate. I tend to use a variety of cemented and uncemented implants to deal with the different aspects of femoral bone loss.
In addition, I perform total hip replacement for fracture neck of femur patients in the appropriate physiological groups. I also perform both condylar and unicondylar primary knee arthroplasty and utilise condylar and hinged knee replacements in revision surgery along with hinged knees for complex and fixed deformity knee arthritis.
I have several peer review publications and have delivered presentations both nationally and internationally on different aspects of orthopaedics.
