I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Trauma and Limb Reconstruction Surgeon based in Birmingham and the Limb Reconstruction Service Lead at University Hospitals Birmingham. Since 2015, I have practised at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, home to the region’s Major Trauma Centre, where I receive referrals for complex lower limb trauma and reconstruction from across the area.
My clinical practice focuses on the treatment of complex lower limb injuries, including fractures around joints (periarticular fractures), foot and ankle injuries, orthoplastic limb salvage, and post-traumatic reconstruction. I also have a specialist interest in amputation surgery and am proud to be part of one of the only NHS-based teams in the UK delivering osseointegration, an advanced technique that connects a prosthetic limb directly to the bone.
I completed my medical degree at the University of Edinburgh before undertaking higher surgical training in orthopaedics in Birmingham. To further develop my expertise, I completed specialist fellowship training in limb reconstruction and trauma in Bristol, foot and ankle surgery in Sheffield, and an AO Trauma fellowship in Tampa, Florida.
A significant part of my practice involves the use of circular fixators, which are specialised external frames used to support the treatment of complex injuries and conditions. These include acute and delayed trauma reconstruction, non-union and malunion fractures, where bones have not healed properly, and bone infection. I also treat a range of post-traumatic and reconstructive foot and ankle conditions.
Alongside my clinical work, I remain actively involved in education and research. I teach on regional and national orthopaedic courses, publish regularly in peer-reviewed medical journals, and serve as an Associate Editor of the journal Trauma. I am also a member of AO Trauma and the Orthopaedic Trauma Society.
Throughout my practice, I place great importance on clear communication and personalised treatment planning. I believe patients should feel fully informed about their condition and treatment options, and I work closely with each individual to ensure they feel supported at every stage of their care.

Personal profile
I am married with two children, we have lived in Sutton Coldfield for the past 10 years. As a family we enjoy hill walking, biking and skiing. I am a keen trail runner and mountain biker and have completed ultramarathons in the Lake District and the Brecon Beacons. I have twice completed the Three Peaks Challenge as part of a team sponsored for charity.
