What does neurological physiotherapy involve?

Neurological physiotherapy involves a programme of rehabilitation, with tailored treatment to tackle your individual problems.

An initial assessment is undertaken and we examine your movement and balance problems, looking at aspects of muscle tone, posture, strength, coordination, and sensation. We assess your ability to function in tasks such as standing up, walking, reaching and using your hands.

Once we have completed the assessment we agree realistic goals for you to achieve and tailor a personal treatment plan to help you reach these goals.

How does neurological physiotherapy work in practice?

A treatment plan typically involves physiotherapy to align and activate joints and muscles to enable better postural control and stability so that you are able to move and function more successfully.

This is achieved through facilitating movement patterns, strength training, and by helping you to exercise and practice movement skills.

You are very welcome to bring a friend or relative with you to any of your treatment sessions.
