Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mrs Helen Mumby-Croft at Spire include:
Mrs Mumby-Croft treats spinal and referred pain including neck and arm pain, back and sciatic pain.
Having qualified in Coventry in 1987, I have had a wide range of experience in many areas of physiotherapy, including spending time working in Canada.
I have worked in a wide range of clinical areas such as pain management, respiratory medicine and neurology, all of which means I have seen and learnt many things that I now use in my specialist work.
From 1991 I specialised in musculo-skeletal work and became a specialist physiotherapist in spinal work in 1999 when I started working with a spinal orthopaedic surgeon and a rheumatology service in Peterborough. Together we have developed this service over the intervening years and I have developed my skills in understanding and interpreting imaging such as MRI scans and have also become practised in undertaking spinal injections including epidurals - being one of the first in the country to do so.
I now run a very busy NHS service in Peterborough, and realise that there are still many people who other than visiting their GP, have limited opportunity to see a specialist about their back pain.
In developing a private service at Spire Leicester Hospital for patients who wish to have a thorough and exhaustive examination privately, with access to imaging such as MRI scanning, I hope to be able to offer reassurance, understanding and an explanation as to the cause of an individual's debilitating back pain.
My extensive experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team, also means I can help patients in planning how best to move forward in order to effectively manage their spinal pain.

I have long been converted to being a Leicester City fan (having worked in Leicester at the very start of my career) and although I am no longer a season ticket holder, I try to get to home matches. I also have two Westies to walk regularly, but for exercise I love to play squash, and if only I had the time, play golf!Back to top
