Specialises in
I am a fellowship trained Consultant Orthopaedic Hip and Knee Surgeon. In particular I have a specialist interest in hip and knee replacement surgery, including procedures such as partial knee replacement for the younger patient suffering with arthritis. I also have an interest in revision hip and knee procedures, plus sports injuries of the knee for which arthroscopy is suitable.
I perform over 200 hip and knee joint replacements each year and am currently the service lead for the neck of femur hip fracture service at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
I first qualified in 2006 and have since gained experience in all aspects of hip and knee surgery. After graduating from University College London, I trained in north London before moving to the East Midlands where I undertook specialist training on the highly regarded training programmes across both Nottingham and Leicester.
I subsequently completed highly regarded fellowships in Nottingham and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London. I also undertook a prestigious British Orthopaedic Association travelling fellowship, where I was awarded the opportunity to spend time at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. My experiences have equipped me with the breadth of knowledge and skills for managing hip and knee joint problems and complex revision surgery. I currently work as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon across all sites within the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS trust.
I am passionate about medical research and furthering our current knowledge surrounding the management of hip and knee conditions. I have been awarded a PhD from the University College of London, for a programme of internationally recognised research based at the prestigious Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. I have published numerous peer-reviewed scientific articles, and have delivered several international presentations including at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the worlds largest orthopaedic conference. I have received numerous awards in recognition of my research activities. I believe research is vital, and ensures that I keep up to date with the latest developments and helps me to practice evidence-based medicine.
I am actively involved in teaching surgical trainees and allied health care professionals and I am a dedicated faculty member on a number of national and international teaching courses. I am proud to have been awarded a UHL Educator Award for being a Most Inspiring Role Model.
Most importantly, I am passionate about offering my patients the best possible care.
