I practice medicine in both the NHS and the private sector. My interests and every day practice span both acute, chronic and cancer pain and encompass a wide variety of conditions.

I have extensive experience in managing musculoskeletal pain originating from both the spine and other joints. This includes pain originating from the neck and the lower back and covers pain emanating from certain disc degenerative conditions, facet joints, sacroiliac joints, coccyx, and sciatica type pain.

I also specialise in joint pain of the shoulder, knees and hips. For all of these conditions, after a detailed and meticulous assessment, I can offer both medical conservative management and/or interventional management which might range from simple injections to the joints causing the pain and the nerves conveying the pain, to radio frequency treatment of the nerves. I am skilled in the use of ultrasound and x-ray imaging modalities.

I am the pain specialist on the Pancreatitis Multidisciplinary Team at the University Hospitals of Leicester and as such have a special interest in the assessment and management of abdominal and pelvic pain, particularly in relation to pain due to the pancreas. I also specialise in nerve blocks for abdominal pain, especially for pain caused by deep visceral conditions and treat widespread pain and Fibromyalgia.

In addition to my work in chronic pain, I work at LOROS to help with the pain management in palliative and terminally ill patients, where I specialise in nerve injections for cancers including ablative procedures.

I also play a significant role in teaching and training as I am the regional advisor of the Faculty of pain medicine. I teach on courses of interventions using ultrasound and x-ray both nationally and internationally. I have presented nationally and internationally and co-authored papers in specialised medical journals.

After qualification from Cairo University, I successfully completed my higher training in anaesthesia in Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. During that period I was awarded my Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and subsequently in 2014, Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain (FFPMRCA) after which I was appointed as a Consultant in Anaesthetics and Pain Medicine in the University Hospitals of Leicester. I have also built upon and consolidated my experience in interventional pain management by gaining through examination of the Fellowship of the Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP).
