I am a Consultant Gynaecologist and Gynaecological Oncologist based in Cambridge, providing private care to people across East Anglia at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital and Spire King’s Lynn Clinic. I specialise in robotic‑assisted and advanced laparoscopic (minimal access) surgery for both cancerous and benign gynaecological conditions.
My clinical practice covers the full spectrum of gynaecological cancers, including cancers of the uterus, cervix, ovaries, vulva and vagina. I have extensive experience in performing complex oncological procedures, with a special interest in minimally invasive surgery for uterine and cervical cancers and selected early-stage ovarian cancers. My expertise also includes the management and surgical treatment of rare cancers such as vulvo‑vaginal melanoma, ensuring that patients with uncommon or complex diagnoses receive highly specialised care.
Alongside cancer care, I manage most benign gynaecological conditions, including heavy menstrual bleeding, menopausal symptoms, pelvic pain, PMS, irregular periods, ovarian cysts, post‑coital bleeding, vulval lumps, fibroid uterus and cervical smear abnormalities. (Infertility and urogynaecology are managed by sub‑specialist colleagues).
I have performed over 2,000 colposcopies, over 1,000 hysteroscopies, over 1,000 benign and diagnostic laparoscopic procedures, over 1,000 laparotomies and over 500 radical ovarian cancer debulking procedures.
I began my surgical career in Sri Lanka in 2000 after completing my internship in 1999. After moving to the UK I completed the structured postgraduate training programme in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and gained the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT – 2010) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. I then completed a sub-specialty fellowship at Oxford University Hospital that was accredited by the Royal College of Gynaecologists for Sub-Specialty in Gynaecology Oncology.
I am a member of the British Gynaecological Cancer Society (BGCS), the BMA, and I am a BSCCP‑accredited colposcopist and trainer. I completed an MSc(Res) in image‑guided surgery and surgical planning at Oxford University while working as an Honorary Consultant—supporting my ongoing commitment to precision‑based, technology‑enhanced surgical care.
