Winners for a second year running!

17 June 2015

Spire Harpenden Hospital, part of Spire Healthcare has been named Hospital Group of the Year for the second year running at the 2015 HealthInvestor Awards last week.

This prestigious event, run by trade publication, HealthInvestor, is one of the main highlights in the health sector calendar and is always very well attended by many important bodies.  The 2015 competition was fierce with award submissions up by 20% on last year, but despite this, Spire still pipped six other organisations to the top spot.

Julia Salmon, Hospital Director for Spire Harpenden Hospital says:

“I am delighted to announce that Spire Healthcare has won the HealthInvestor Private Hospital Group of the Year award for the second year running.

There was much competition this year, with submissions up by 20%, and Spire Healthcare defeated six other organisations to the winning spot. This highlights our commitment here at Spire Harpenden to caring for patients across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, allowing them access to a high quality, award-winning hospital, right on their door-step.”

Journalist and news presenter, Jeremy Vine, presented the awards, which were judged by a panel of independent judges.

Judges’ comments:

Spire Healthcare has achieved a significant amount in 2014 and has exciting plans for 2015. On reading the submission, I was struck by the development of core services and the group’scontinued commitment to invest in its people, in the same year that they successfully listed on LSE, which is no mean feat. The hospital group clearly delivers high quality care that exceeds the national average for clinical standards and award winning levels of patients’ expectations, whilst also investing in its facilities to ensure they are at the forefront of care – delivering complete treatment pathways where possible (such as the new Cancer Centre). The company’s investment in its people demonstrates its commitment to inspire from within, whilst the action taken to protect the environment means it’s also aware of the company’s external footprint. A well put together submission based on impressive delivery of innovation and excellence.

A successful listing on the LondonStock Exchange and growth across all business units show that Spire has had another excellent year and are well placed for the future.
