At Spire Gatwick Park Hospital, our specialist physiotherapists are here to assess and diagnose your condition to ensure that you receive the best treatment and advice. We're here to help you get back to your usual activities, at work or home, as soon as possible.

The Chartered Physiotherapists at Spire Gatwick Park Hospital are all registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and are highly skilled in:

  • Acupuncture
  • Back to work advice
  • Exercise and stretching programmes
  • Hand therapy
  • Manual therapy and manipulation
  • Post-operative treatment
  • Posture correction and advice
  • Women's health

What's the process?

At your first appointment, a detailed history will be taken, followed by a thorough assessment of your particular condition.

Initial consultations can be 45 minutes or up to an hour, depending on the area to be treated. It may be useful to bring a vest top or a pair of shorts as the physiotherapist will need to see the areas that relate to your condition. You'll receive expert advice and a personal recovery programme tailored to your needs.

Follow up appointments last up to 30 minutes (which includes time for your physiotherapist to write notes). With your permission, our physiotherapists will liaise with your GP and provide a detailed discharge summary at the end of your treatment.

Our physiotherapists can also refer you to a consultant at Spire Gatwick Park Hospital, who will be able to arrange any diagnostic tests as required, including X-ray, CT or MRI scanning.

Our physiotherapy outpatient service is open six days a week:

Monday: 8am - 7.30pm
Tuesday: 8am - 7.30pm
Wednesday: 8am - 7.30pm
Thursday: 8am - 7.30pm
Friday: 8am - 6pm
Saturday: 8am - 4pm

Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years, but has only recently started to become integrated into western medicine. Acupuncture is the practice of puncturing the skin with needless in order to treat disease

What can acupuncture help?

It is commonly used to relieve arthritis pain and back pain. It may also be useful in other painful conditions, such as migraine and other soft tissue injuries.

How does it work?

Acupuncture doesn’t work for everyone, or for every condition. It has measurable effects on body systems, but scientists can’t explain them all in detail. Acupuncture is known to increase the body’s natural painkillers, endorphins, in the spinal cord and the brain. This inhibits pain.
