Guinness World Record attempt started at Spire Gatwick Park Hospital

19 April 2018

This Sunday Ben Short (Bupa Health Screening) will be attempting the Guinness World Record of the fastest man to run a marathon ever in a wedding dress (3:00.54).

Ben is getting married in a couple of months and this will be his stag do and his way of raising money.

The training all started at Spire Gatwick Park Hospital. Understandably nervous about running outdoors in a full wedding dress and veil, he began running in the outfit on the treadmill following a very interesting conversation with John Crisp, Hospital Director, to give the go ahead to train in the hospital.

Ben will dedicate a mile to everyone who is kind enough to donate more than 5 pounds to his local children’s charity ESSA or the cancer and hospice charities Breast/Ovarian Cancer & Butterwick Hospice.

You can follow Ben and anyone else you may know who is running the London Marathon on the Android or Apple phone app, from the comfort of your own home. Simply search: ‘marathon’ in your phone app store.

Ben is also due to be interviewed by BBC Surrey on Friday at 7.25am. Good luck Ben!
