Mr Majid Chowdhry

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon

MBBS, MSc, FRCS

Specialises in

  • ACL reconstruction surgery
  • Hip surgery
  • Knee surgery
  • Sports injuries
  • Trauma

I am a comprehensively-trained hip and knee surgeon, specialising in both robotic joint replacement surgery, and ACL and meniscal sports-related injuries.

My expertise extends to treating conditions which cause pain in the knees, hips and pelvis. My specific area of interest lies in sports’ knee injuries, including ACL, PCL and complex ligament reconstruction, and I have extensive experience in performing these procedures.

I commonly treat patients with arthritis, and have a wide range of expertise in knee joint preservation, complex primary knee and hip replacements. I am a specialist in robotic (Mako) hip and knee surgery, which is proven to enhance patient outcomes and recovery times.

I also work as a Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Trust.

I completed higher-specialty training in the South-East Thames region of London. Following this, I trained as a Fellow in Toronto, Canada, with sports knee surgeons well-renowned in this field. I have treated both elite and recreational athletes. At St Michaels’ Hospital, Toronto, I also trained in revision hip and knee replacement surgery. I then returned to the UK to complete a further Trauma fellowship in Cambridge.

My interest in sports' injuries comes from being a keen sportsman myself. I contribute to teaching and research arms. My focussed areas are arthroplasty and sports injuries. I have presented my research internationally, and am published in orthopaedic peer-reviewed journals.

I hold Masters' of Science in both Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery; and Health Economics, Policy & Management.

Reviews from my patients can be found on iWantGreatCare.
