I am a consultant ophthalmic surgeon specialising in cataract and vitreo-retinal surgeries and retinal treatments. I studied medicine at Oxford University, where I won an Open Academic Scholarship from Brasenose College and a number of additional prizes. Since qualifying I have worked in the UK and New Zealand, before sub-specialising with specialist fellowships at St Thomas’ and Moorfields Eye Hospitals in London.

My areas of expertise include cataract surgeries (including complex cases with increased surgical risk), floaters, retinal detachments, macular holes and epiretinal membranes. In addition I specialise in the treatment of macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal vein occlusions, and in treatment with intra-vitreal injections and/or laser.

I have been appointed by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists as the College Tutor responsible for the training of junior surgeons locally.
