I have been a Consultant General Surgeon since 1995, prior to which I was a Lecturer in Surgery at The London and The Royal Marsden Hospitals. I offer a range of oncoplastic surgery, including therapeutic mammoplasty and breast reconstruction with tissue expanders, acellular dermal matrix and latissimus dorsi flaps.
I have undertaken hernia repair for over 30 years and laparoscopic hernia repairs for over 20 years - I favour the totally extraperitoneal hernia repair recommended by NICE.
I have published 32 papers and 12 abstracts, 6 book chapters, a Handbook of Breast Surgery (Co-author) and edited A Manual for Specialty Skills in Breast Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons of England.
I am former Director of the Specialty Skills in Breast Disease Management at The Royal College of Surgeons of England, for which I edited the Course Manual, and on the Faculty of the Legal Aspects of Surgical Practice Course. I was formerly on the Training the Trainers Faculty.
For 15 years until 2014 I was Lead Clinician for Cancer Services at Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust and I was awarded a National Bronze Clinical Excellence Award in 2008.
I am an Examiner in Surgery for Finals at Brighton University Medical School.
I am a member of the Expert Witness Institute and have prepared over 30 medico-legal reports for the Court. I have received training in report writing and court attendance and obtained an LLM in 2010.
