Dr Pandita-Gunawardena is currently working as a Consultant Physician in Elderly Medicine at the University Hospital Lewisham, a post that he has held for the last 29 years. He is the Senior Consultant in the Department of Elderly Medicine at the University Hospital Lewisham, which is a teaching hospital working with the Guy's, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School in London. Dr Pandita-Gunawardena’s special interests include cognitive disorders, Parkinson’s disease and hypertension. He is also the Lead Consultant for Intermediate Care. He has been closely involved with many health care development projects and has acted as Chairman in many of these committees.
He has a wide research interest and has presented papers at national and international conferences and has published widely. He was closely involved with the development of the first anti-Alzheimer medication in the UK and established a memory clinic at University Hospital Lewisham. Dr Pandita-Gunawardena's practice at Spire Gatwick Park Hospital includes: memory deterioration including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia and related disorders, Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders.
