MSK injection event for healthcare professionals

On 11 September, Spire Elland Hospital held their regular primary care education sessions for healthcare professionals. The evening showcased three Spire Elland orthopaedic consultants, Miss Victoria Deans (hand and wrist), Mr Simon Fogerty (shoulder and elbow) and Mr Gareth Wells (foot and ankle).
Each consultant delivered a 20-minute talk where they discussed what to look out for and what to avoid. This was then followed by demonstration injections on a variety of anatomical models (kindly supplied by Arthrex UK Ltd). This provided an opportunity for all the healthcare professionals to practice and ask the consultants any questions they may have.
The evening was very well attended and everyone found the session extremely engaging. These primary care educational sessions are run monthly at both Spire Elland Hospital and Spire Dewsbury Clinic. We also take consultants out to surgeries to present sessions to their clinical staff during their protected learning times.
