MB, ChB, MS, FRCS (Gen Surg)
I completed my general surgical training in the South Thames (West) region. My sub-specialty training is in colorectal surgery, in which I completed my Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in 2000. I was awarded a Master of Surgery (MS) following the publication of my thesis on research into hereditary bowel cancer carried out during a two year period at St Mark's Hospital at Northwick Park in Harrow. I was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon in 2001.
My clinical interests are in the modern management of haemorrhoids (piles) and I am the Medical Director of the British Haemorrhoid Centre and Reading HALO centre, based at Spire Dunedin, which specialise in safe, effective and virtually pain-free pile surgery.
I also specialise in the treatment of bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease and other anal and rectal disorders such as fissures, fistulas and abscesses, as well as general surgical conditions including all types of hernia and gallstones, including laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery.
I am a general surgical representative to Dunedin Hospital Medical Advisory Committee.
