MBChB DPhil FRCS (Urol)

Specialises in

I started specialist urological training in 2009 in the Oxford deanery; I took time out of training to complete a PhD (DPhil) at The University of Oxford (awarded 2012). I completed my specialty training in urology in 2015, was awarded a travelling fellowship to The Keck Institute, University of Southern California and was then appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at The Royal Berkshire hospital in 2016. I am an expert in the management of urinary tract infections, enlarged prostates and prostatitis.

I specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of urological cancers such as kidney cancer, bladder cancer and prostate cancer. I also have a specialty interest in the management of male urinary tract symptoms, enlarged prostates and urinary tract infections including prostatitis.

To date I have performed over 350 laparoscopic (keyhole) or robotic operations to treat cancers and benign conditions of the urinary tract. I have performed over 100 Rezum procedures, over 75 Urolift procedures and approaching 50 aquablation procedures for the treatment of male urinary tract symptoms. I was a pioneer of local anaesthetic Rezum in the UK, have carried out a large number of ‘core’ urological operations such as surgery for hydroceles, epididymal cysts and phimosis (circumcisions).

I regularly carry out diagnostic procedures such as transperineal prostate biopsies (including MRI fusion biopsies), cystoscopies and assesment of bladder function. I see patients presenting with a wide range of urological complaints such as blood in the urine (haematuria), blood in the sperm (haematospermia), urine infections, pelvic pain (prostatitis), high PSA blood tests and problems with urination.

I am a Research Lead for Urology Royal Berkshire Hospital, in a National Committee for Clinical trials in Urology and have been a Consultant Urological Surgeon at The Royal Berkshire Hospital since 2016.
