Andy Berry - MSc, BSc, MCSP, HCPC
Andy graduated from Cardiff in 2003 and is now a Highly Specialist Physiotherapist at Spire Perform. He has worked at the hospital full time since 2010 following periods within; the NHS, other private sector hospitals and clinics, the Ministry of Defence and in professional sport. He has a keen clinical interest in musculo-skeletal conditions with particular reference to functional biomechanics in cycling and triathlon. He has furthered his education by completing his MSc in Sports Physiotherapy and has worked with elite level athletes at London Irish RFC and British Basketball. Andy runs our physiotherapy led injection clinic at Perform Cardiff and is also trained in the use of acupuncture.
Saskia Blair - MSc Phys, PgDip, HCPC
Saskia is a highly-experienced physiotherapist with over 25 years’ experience in treating all manner of musculo-skeletal conditions. She has a special interest in treating all sports injuries and particularly in return to sport rehabilitation. Saskia was a physiotherapist for Team Wales at 4 Commonwealth Games and for Team GB at the Holding Camp for the Athens Olympics. She is currently the Welsh Deaf Rugby Team Physiotherapist. Saskia is has completed DSE Level 1 training and introduction to ergonomics and therefore is able to do ergonomic and DSE assessments.
David Bromley - BSc, MSc, MACP, MCSP, HCPC
David graduated from Kings College, London in 2000 and worked predominately for the NHS as a senior physiotherapist and clinical specialist, before joining Spire Healthcare in 2011. He has extensive experience in musculoskeletal sports injuries and spinal conditions, having worked in a number of areas from chronic pain clinics through to the rehabilitation of elite athletes. In 2012 he completed his MACP post graduate training at Cardiff University.
Pippa Carter - MSc, BSc (Hons), MCSP, HCPC, Perform Physiotherapy Manager/Lead
Pippa is a highly specialist physiotherapist who has a wide range of experience within musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy with a special interest in the field of dance medicine and science. She has worked with the Royal Ballet Company, major West End Shows and the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing. In 2010 Pippa completed her MSc in Sports Physiotherapy at Cardiff University. Pippa is also trained in clinical Pilates and acupuncture.
Karen Fuller - MPhil, PGD, MCSP, HCPC
Karen is a highly-experienced clinician with over 27 years’ experience. She has been involved in physiotherapy research, and held senior and specialist posts in both the NHS and private sector. Her clinical practice at Spire Cardiff Hospital involves the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions in a wide variety of clients ranging from elite athletes to more sedentary individuals. She has a particular interest in spinal, shoulder and pelvic conditions. She is highly skilled at managing complex presentations, providing innovative physiotherapy solutions and is regularly called upon to specifically consult in these cases.
Lucy Kember - MSc, BSc (Hons)
Lucy Kember is highly experienced having spent the last 9 years predominantly working in the professional sport sector, providing specialist soft tissue and rehabilitation treatment to a variety of sports teams including; WRU Senior Men’s National Squad, Scarlets RFC, Welsh Female Netball Senior Squad and the Celtic Dragons Netball Team. In addition to her work with sports teams, Lucy has also treated private clients with a range of injuries and issues, priding herself on looking more holistically at her patients, looking at all possible causes to ensure her treatment is solution focused.
Lucy has recently focused her time on furthering her academic profile, having completed her MSc in Sports Therapy in 2015, and is now studying for a PhD concentrating on ACL injuries in female netballers. Whilst Lucy dedicates herself to her achieving her own academic goals, she also lectures full-time at Cardiff Metropolitan University to Sports Massage & Rehabilitation students.
Charlotte Linton-Perry - BSc (Hons), MCSP, HCPC, Deputy Perform Lead
Charlotte is the Physiotherapy Perform Manager at Spire Cardiff Hospital. Charlotte graduated from Cardiff University in 1999 and has worked for Spire Healthcare since 2002, working in both the out-patient and in-patient settings. Charlotte’s specialist interests include the management of the shoulder, hip, knee and spine in both the pre-operative and post-operative stages of treatment. Other interests include the management of sports injuries both conservatively and post-surgical interventions. Charlotte is trained in Shockwave Therapy for conditions such as plantar-fasciitis and is also trained in acupuncture.
Matt Wimberley - BSc (Hons), MCSP, HCPC
Matt graduated from Oxford Brookes University in 2011 and works in both the inpatient and outpatient teams at Spire Cardiff Hospital. Prior to joining the team at Spire Cardiff he worked for Cardiff and Vale University Health Board gaining experience in a number of core areas before moving to a Senior Physiotherapist role where he specialised in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. He has a special interest in sports injuries and has previously worked with Cardiff City FC academy. He also has an interest in pre and post-operative rehabilitation. Sarah Reed - BSc (Hons), MCSP, HCPC, DCR (T)
Sarah has over 20 years experience as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist and has been involved with a wide range of conditions including sports injuries, soft tissue injuries and orthopaedic/ post operative rehabilitation. Sarah is the lead clinician for our hydrotherapy service, and works alongside Pippa Carter to lead our Pilates service. Prior to qualifying as a physiotherapist, Sarah was a radiographer at Velindre Hospital and was part of the team responsible for the planning and administering radiotherapy treatments to treat cancer. Sarah understands that different patients will have had different prescribed treatments in their cancer journey. Her understanding and expertise allow Sarah to provide a bespoke rehabilitation programme, that considers each person as an individual.
Jackie Zaslona - BEd, MCSP, HCP
Jackie is a highly-experienced musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with over 25 years of clinical practice ranging from acute post-surgical treatment to advanced elite athlete rehabilitation. Jackie has worked at four Olympic Games as a physiotherapist and this has given her valuable insight into the complexities of sports injuries. Her key areas of expertise are movement analysis and performance rehabilitation with a personal interest in spinal and shoulder conditions.
