Mr Preetkiron Bhal

I am Mr Preetkiron Bhal, a Consultant Gynaecologist with specialist expertise in urogynaecology and pelvic floor disorders. I offer a comprehensive, patient‑centred service for the investigation and management of bladder and pelvic floor symptoms, including urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, and pelvic organ prolapse.

I provide advanced diagnostic assessment, including cystoscopy and urodynamics, alongside a full range of non‑surgical and surgical treatments such as bladder Botox, tibial nerve stimulation, colposuspension, and autologous fascial sling procedures, as well as complex prolapse surgery including sacrospinous fixation. I place strong emphasis on conservative management where appropriate, including pelvic floor rehabilitation and the use of vaginal pessary devices for both prolapse and incontinence.

In addition to my specialist practice, I manage a broad spectrum of general gynaecological conditions, including heavy menstrual bleeding, irregular periods, fibroids, ovarian cysts, pelvic pain, and endometriosis. I offer comprehensive menopause care, supporting women with symptoms such as hot flushes, sleep disturbance, mood changes, and genitourinary symptoms, with tailored hormonal and non‑hormonal treatment options.

I also have expertise in early pregnancy problems, infertility, and the management of obstetric perineal injuries. I lead a multidisciplinary team in Cardiff focused on delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based care for women across South Wales.

During my career, I undertook a sabbatical at King’s College Hospital London, where I worked with Professor Linda Cardozo, a globally recognised leader in urogynaecology. I have also worked with experts in the US and Europe to further my training in urogynaecology. I trained at the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff, and completed my postgraduate training in South Wales, including an MD thesis on the role of power Doppler ultrasonography in reproductive medicine.

I was appointed as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Cardiff in 2003. I combine extensive clinical experience with a strong commitment to clear communication and shared decision‑making. I have a keen interest in research and am widely published, reflecting my ongoing commitment to advancing women’s health and maintaining high standards of care.

Outside of work, I am married to Nadia, who is also a gynaecologist, and we have four children. I enjoy family life with our two dogs, two cats, and a fish, and I have a keen interest in travelling.
