I graduated from Guy’s Hospital Medical School, London and after completing my MD research degree investigating the mechanisms of vein graft failure at the Bristol Heart Institute, went on to Cardiothoracic surgical training at The Royal Brompton Hospital, London; Bristol Royal Infirmary; and St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney, Australia.
I gained specialist training in beating heart surgery, arterial revascularisation, and cardiothoracic transplantation. I took up my consultant post at the University Hospital of Wales in 2003, and have developed my interests in beating heart surgery, mitral valve repair, minimal access cardiac surgery, and training in cardiothoracic surgery.
