I have been a doctor for 25 years and a Consultant for 12 years. After completing medical school, I did postgraduate paediatric medicine training in Bombay, India. I underwent further postgraduate training in paediatric medicine in UK and later did Nephrology subspecialty training in UK and Toronto.
My NHS practice is based at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff where I am part of a team to provide tertiary paediatric nephrology service to children of south, west and mid Wales. I manage all the common and rare nephrology issues affecting children.
I undertake research and currently involved in multi-centre various clinical trials. I am also actively involved in training junior doctors. I have a honorary title as lecturer at the Cardiff University and regularly teach medical students. I keep up-to-date with my knowledge by regularly attending national/International conferences.
I am currently working as consultant paediatric nephrologist at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff for the past 12 years. I have developed expertise to provide both outpatient and inpatient management of various kidney problems encountered in children including urinary tract infections, blood and protein leakage in urine, bladder reflux, nephrotic syndrome, nephritis, congenital kidney malformations, scarred kidneys, high blood pressure, kidney failure (acute and chronic), medical management of hydronephrotic /partially obstructed kidneys, counselling for antenatally detected foetal kidney malformations, medical management of kidney stones, overactive bladder, Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP), bed wetting, day time wetting and medical management of kidney transplant. I routinely look after patients on dialysis and also perform kidney biopsies where indicated.
I hold honorary lecturer contract with Cardiff university.
