I have been practicing as a consultant urological surgeon for thirty years. I have several areas of practice in which I have established solid experience over thirty years.
I am an expert in the diagnosis and treatment, across all stages, of prostate cancer. I have uniquely in the Southwest Region engaged a system of fusion biopsy which allows for the most accurate targeted treatment of prostate cancers with Focal Therapy using High Intensity Focused Ultrasound. Results show that for the appropriate stages and grades of disease, this treatment produces excellent outcomes with minimal toxicity in sexual function and incontinence.
In the more common areas of benign prostate enlargement which causes distressing symptoms of sleep loss and embarrassment, I offer a full range of medical and surgical treatments including water vapour (REZUM) treatment which avoids many of the hazards of standard TURP such as excess bleeding. At the Spire we are also in the process developing an aquablation programme for larger prostates.
I have developed a sound practice in erectile dysfunction (over 3 decades) using the newest medical therapy approaches. If this this fails I offer state-of-the art penile prosthesis implantation using either Boston or Coloplast
implants. I offer within my years of experience tailored treatments for Peyronie's disease in all its stages of development (overall success rate of 80-90%).
I am an expert in male infertility and have some of the best results nationally for success in micro-surgical reversal of vasectomy. I also perform high numbers of microsurgical varicocele ligation for subfertility or pain.
Over the last thirty years, I have been committed to evidence based treatments. As testament to this, I have published over ten books in the field of urological surgery and its practice. In 2015 I received a Gold Award for services to the NHS.
