Virtual consultations:
As of 1 April 2023, I will no longer offer cosmetic rhinoplasty. I will, however, still consider patients for post-trauma rhinoplasty.Â
I have been a consultant in Bristol since 2002. I specialise in all aspects of ear, nose and throat surgery and work closely with my colleagues to ensure that Bristol is the specialist centre for complex ENT problems for the South West and West of England.
I have a specialist practice in head and neck and thyroid surgery and founded the North Bristol Voice Clinic to provide specialist care for professional voice users. I have also been trained in the care of complex nasal and sinus disorders and perform a full range of minimally invasive and endoscopic procedures for sinus and nasal problems.
In my outpatient clinic I often see patients with problems of hearing and balance, and work closely with my audiological colleagues to provide a holistic approach to both the care and assessment of patients.
I qualified from Oxford University in 1989. After initial training positions at St Mary’s Hospital and The Royal Marsden Hospital in London, I was appointed to a position as a specialist registrar in ENT surgery at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals. This training encompassed all areas of the discipline and included specialist paediatric training at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
In 1999 I was awarded the Gold medal in laryngology by the Royal Society of Medicine and underwent fellowship training in head and neck surgery under the direction of Professor Coman at Princess Alexandria Hospital in Brisbane, which is widely regarded as one of the best head and neck units in the world. Upon my return I was appointed to Bristol as a Consultant ENT Surgeon.
I was previously lead clinician for ENT services at North Bristol NHS Trust and was clinical lead in the design and implementation of centralisation of ENT services at University Hospitals Bristol. I have been the clinical lead for University Hospitals Bristol and the training programme director for the Severn Deanery. I have also served on the council of the British Laryngological Association.
I am active in clinical research and teaching and part of the faculty on a number of national training courses. My commitment to teaching was recognised in 2013 with the award of Trainer of the Year in this region.
