I am a HCPC registered Dietitian with over 17 years experience working within the field of nutrition and dietetics. I have been a Dietitian at the Royal Sussex County Hospital since 2010, working at the Sussex Cancer Centre as a Macmillan Dietitian and more recently as a gastroenterology specialist Dietitian in the digestive diseases unit. Previously I worked as a dietitian in Nottingham at the Queens Medical Centre which is where I had been a dietetic assistant before studying dietetics at postgraduate level.

Myself and my youngest son both have coeliac disease and follow a strict lifelong gluten free diet, so I understand the impact of dietary restrictions: making changes towards eating behaviours, tailoring meals to a budget, and adapting cooking methods.

I am passionate about nutrition and well-being and like to use a practical approach developing positive, sustainable changes for my patients. I work with patients to develop individual nutrition and lifestyle goals which are realistic and can provide ongoing support.

As a Macmillan dietitian, I provided cooking classes for my patients to highlight how to optimise their nutrition during and after cancer treatment with practical food ideas. I demonstrated how to adapt meals for nausea, taste changes, a dry mouth or swallowing difficulties. I currently provide a monthly health and wellbeing talk to patients who are in remission for their cancer; focusing on good nutrition post cancer treatment and a healthy weight.

I provide a comprehensive dietetic service by working with the hospital consultants, GPs, and other health professionals. I am a key member of multidisciplinary teams within the hospital and also give teaching sessions to patients, junior doctors, and other health professionals.
