MB, FRCS, FRCS (Orth)
I originally qualified in 1991 at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School. I then had my orthopaedic training from the North West Thames orthopaedic training scheme and later took on specialist training with the Spinal unit of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore.
I've helped introduce revolutionary procedures and techniques to the South Coast, including anterior lumbar surgery, lumbar disc replacement, minimally invasive spinal surgery and vertebroplasty and I maintain close ties with many other leading spinal surgeons around the UK.
I have now stepped back from performing open spinal surgery and am focusing on outpatient spinal care offering detailed consultations, diagnostic assessments, personalised non‑operative management plans, day‑case spinal procedures and independent second opinions.
If open spinal surgery is required we can facilitate referral to an appropriate specialist surgical colleague. Where requested, I can remain involved in your care, including follow‑up after surgery, to help guide rehabilitation and longer‑term management.
I have a long‑standing reputation in Sussex and beyond for excellence in spinal diagnosis, clinical decision‑making and patient‑centred care. By stepping back from open surgery I am able to devote more time to thoughtful outpatient assessment and collaborative planning of the most suitable treatment for your condition.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Michael Cass at Spire include:

Other treatments

Along with my young family, I have a wide variety of interests including cycling, sea kayaking, ballroom dancing and music.
