I am a highly qualified and experienced Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon specialising in Hip and Knee replacements, Knee arthroscopic surgery for meniscal injuries and orthopaedic trauma. My practice is based at Spire Washington Hospital and at the County Durham and Darlington NHS Trust
My clinical practice focuses on the management of lower limb conditions, including hip and knee pain, arthritis, meniscal (cartilage) injuries and general trauma. I perform a wide range of procedures, including hip replacement surgery, knee replacement, knee arthroscopy (keyhole surgery) and knee ligament reconstruction, helping patients regain mobility and return to everyday activities.
I take a patient-centred, evidence-based approach to care.
Having completed a Master’s degree in Evidence-Based Orthopaedics, I am committed to discussing all treatment options with you, including non-surgical approaches, and only recommending surgery when it is truly in your best interests. I believe in shared decision-making, ensuring you feel fully informed and involved at every stage of your treatment.
My training includes higher surgical orthopaedic training in the North East of England, followed by advanced fellowships in hip and knee replacement at leading international centres, including the University of Toronto, Wrightington Hospital and the Golden Jubilee Hospital in Glasgow. I have also completed specialist training in rapid recovery techniques following joint replacement in Hamburg and Copenhagen.
I closely monitor outcomes through NHS patient-reported measures and the National Joint Registry, ensuring high-quality results for my patients.
Alongside my clinical work, I am actively involved in teaching and training future surgeons, contributing to national and international orthopaedic education and research.
