I have been a consultant surgeon at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Gateshead since 1996, having qualified in medicine at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, and am currently the Divisional Director of Surgical Services.

My main clinical interest is to provide a high quality of clinical care relating to breast and colorectal diseases. This has progressed over recent years with breast reconstruction and laparoscopic colorectal surgery.

All aspects of Breast disease including one stop diagnostic clinics/Breast screening: Primary Surgery for Breast Cancer, Sentinel lymph node biopsy, Breast reconstruction, both immediate and delayed, Symmetry surgery with breast reduction and nipple reconstruction. Diagnosis and treatment of Gastrointestinal disease: Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, Laparoscopy, Laparoscopic colorectal surgery, General Surgery, Hernias, Gall Bladder Disease.

I am married to Janet who works as a General Practitioner and have two grown up sons both studying at University. In my spare time I love to walk our three spaniels, I also enjoy gardening and like using the produce in preserves and jams.
