I am a Consultant Rheumatologist with a specialist interest in connective tissue diseases and vasculitis. I see and treat the full range of rheumatological presentations including inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue diseases and vasculitis.
I completed my training in London, working between Guy's, St George's and St Thomas' Hospitals where I developed my research interest in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). Since my arrival in the North East, I have spent 10 years working as a Consultant Rheumatologist at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and now Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead.
As well as being the lead for connective tissue diseases and vasculitis at QEH, I am also the clinical governance lead for our department ensuring safe practice within the department.
I have written training modules on aspects of connective tissue disease and vasculitis for Pulse learning (CPD for General practitioners) and have recently been asked to submit some work for NRAS (National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society). I have been asked to speak at the local GCA-PMR society meetings. I was nominated for personal touch award, Newcastle Hospitals NHS Trust, 2015.

In my spare time I spend time with family and friends and enjoy playing tennis with my 13 year old daughter. I have taken up playing the harp and can be seen fumbling over the notes at the Northumberland Clarsach society meetings once a month!
