Look after your back better

What is a facet joint?
Facet joints are joints in the spine. These small, cartilage-lined joints are points of contact where each individual backbone (vertebra) meets the one above and below it. Facet joints enable you to bend forward and twist from side to side.
What causes facet joint pain?
If the cartilage wears thin, pain can occur. General wear and tear, along with being overweight, a previous injury or trauma to the spine and weight-bearing jobs are all potential risk factors for facet joint damage.
Symptoms
Facet joint pain is typically experienced as tenderness over the affected joints. The joints may be painful to move, especially when bending backwards. Stiffness in the lower back, especially in the morning, could also originate from the facet joints. If you have had no recent back strain or injury but you are starting to experience episodes of lower back pain, or pain that radiates outward from your spine, your facet joints may be the source of it.
Treatment for facet joint pain
There are several treatment options to relieve facet joint pain, including anti-inflammatory medications, pain medications, facet joint injections, bracing and physical therapy. Many individuals with facet joint syndrome will recover and return to normal activities. Proper posture, proper body mechanics, and certain exercises should be maintained in order to ensure ongoing back health. Prices start from £1,780.
