I am a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at Frimley Healthcare NHS FT of 10 years standing where I undertake colorectal cancer surgery, IBD surgery and Crohns and Colitis surgery as part of my specialist interest.
I am currently the RCS Tutor and the colorectal cancer MDT Lead. I have also been a Consultant Surgeon and Pelvic Floor Lead at The Royal Berkshire Hospital where I accumulated an extensive number of colorectal cancer and colitis surgery.
I have a cancer lead position in my base NHS trust which gives me key responsibility in helping to deliver a cancer service for the population of East Berkshire and further afield such as Denham, Wraysbury and Staines.
I am able to offer proctology services such as haemorrhoids, anal fistula, anal fissure and pilonidal sinus treatments on a day case surgery basis.
I have extensive experience in day case groin hernia repair and more complex abdominal wall hernia surgery.
I am able to see patients with abdominal pain, bowel issues, hernias, lumps and bumps, indigestion, gall stones, gastro oesophageal reflux and anorectal issues. Colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy are procedures which I also have expertise in.
I have 13 years of experience as an independent practitioner and consultant in colorectal cancer surgery, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) surgery including Crohn's and colitis procedures, groin and abdominal wall hernia surgery, colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, keyhole surgery, haemorrhoid, anal fistula and anal fissure procedures.
I am a regional board member for meetings at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, dealing with issues such as surgical resources and training the next generation of surgeons. I am also a university examiner for MBBS and Physician Associate degree courses.
I am part of the Thames Valley Cancer Alliance in my capacity as Colorectal Cancer MDT lead where I am responsible for feeding back data to the alliance and ensuring compliance with standards required as per national cancer care guidelines.
I have an interest in teaching and education, having been a former lead for the gastrointestinal section of the Brunel Medical School Curriculum.
In my spare time I enjoy travelling both within the UK and abroad, having an interest in archaeological sites. Having teenage children helps to keep me involved in physical activities and leisure.
