MBBS, MS, MRCS, FRCS
I am a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon with more than 20 years of NHS experience, including over 10 years at Consultant level. My current practice is dedicated to breast care, covering the full pathway from rapid one-stop assessment of breast symptoms through to breast cancer surgery, oncoplastic breast-conserving surgery, mastectomy, implant-based breast reconstruction and axillary surgery. I have extensive experience in both symptomatic and breast-screening services and treat a wide range of benign and malignant breast conditions. I place particular emphasis on personalised treatment, clear communication and continuity of care from diagnosis through surgery and follow-up.
I assess breast lumps, breast pain, skin or shape changes, nipple discharge or eczema, breast infections, abscesses, mastitis, axillary swelling, screen-detected breast abnormalities and suspected or confirmed breast cancer. My surgical practice includes image - wire and Magseed guided wide local excision (lumpectomy), level 1 and 2 oncoplastic breast-conserving surgery, therapeutic mammoplasty, local tissue displacement and volume-replacement techniques, skin- and nipple-sparing mastectomy, immediate implant-based reconstruction using ADM/mesh, implant exchange/removal and revision, fat grafting (lipofilling), nipple reconstruction, sentinel lymph node biopsy, targeted axillary dissection, axillary clearance, risk-reducing mastectomy for inherited risk including BRCA mutations, excision biopsy and duct excision.
Across my NHS and private practice, I have performed over 640 wide local excisions (lumpectomies), 347 mastectomies, including 145 with immediate breast reconstruction, 502 sentinel lymph node biopsies, 248 axillary lymph node clearances, 155 implant-based breast reconstruction/removal procedures, 74 reduction or therapeutic mammoplasties. My experience spans symptomatic and breast-screening services at several major UK university hospitals, including Chelsea and Westminster NHS Trust, The Royal Marsden Hospital and University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire. I manage patients from initial assessment and diagnosis through multidisciplinary planning, surgery and follow-up, with an emphasis on shared decision-making and strong oncological, cosmetic and functional outcomes.
My training included being an oncoplastic breast fellow at The Royal Marsden Hospital, London. Alongside clinical practice, I have served as an Educational Lead for breast units, taught medical students and surgical trainees, supervised oncoplastic fellows and acted as faculty for Royal College of Surgeons of England surgical skills courses. I am an Educational Supervisor for surgical trainees and my teaching has received multiple NHS awards. I have led and contributed to audits on breast implant loss, re-excision margins, sentinel lymph node biopsy, postoperative haematoma, improvements in one-stop clinic pathways and have authored and co-authored peer-reviewed publications in breast surgery and cancer care. I can communicate in English, Hindi, Urdu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam and Kutch.
