MBBS, MSc, FRCS (Urol)
I have been a Consultant Urological Surgeon since 2021 and am an expert in the modern management of urinary tract stones (kidney/ureter/bladder), urinary tract obstruction (hydronephrosis/management of stents) and urological problems such as blood in the urine, cancer investigation and treatment, and bladder symptoms. I use a patient-centred approach to make safe and sensible treatment plans.
I specialise in general urology assessment, treatment and surgery with subspecialty interest in kidney stones, endourology, treatment of benign prostate enlargement and the management of cancers affecting the bladder, ureter and kidney.
The focus of my consultant practice so far has been improving outcomes for patients by using the most modern techniques and equipment. This means more effective treatments, quicker recovery and less pain. I've performed over 1000 kidney stone operations, most likely making me the highest volume surgeon in the area for patients with stones over the last 4 years. I encourage a personalised approach to kidney stone prevention as well as treatment. My focus is on what's best for the patient rather than the doctor.
Increasingly we are able to treat urinary tract cancers using minimally invasive techniques. By using the latest minitorised digital cameras and modern laser technology I treat cancers in the bladder, ureter and kidney. I use a personalised approach to patients with stents to find the best option for an individual's situation, a move away from the traditional 'one size fits all' approach. This more modern approach means less procedures, better outcomes and more comfort for the patient.
I conduct detailed personalised assessment for patients with bladder symptoms and prostate problems. I take time to identify a patients priorities and discuss options carefully before agreeing a sensible treatment plan. I use the latest medical and surgical treatments for infections, bladder problems and enlarged prostate (bipolar prostate resection, Rezum steam treatment).
I have a busy core urology practice and treat patients with problems with the foreskin (phimosis), scrotum (hydrocele, epididymal cysts), bladder and kidneys, and offer men's health and prostate checks.
In my NHS practice I am the Clinical Lead for Urology at Wexham Park Hospital. The focus of this role has been modernising and improving the department to provide better and more efficient patient care, a particular challenge in the current economic climate. I have a focus on patient safety and have driven a number of initiatives to improve care and prevent adverse events.
I have a busy role as Director of Undergraduate Medical Education for Frimley Health. Being a good teacher is fundamental to being a good doctor and I'm passionate about inspiring the next generation of doctors who need to be of the highest quality to take good care of us all.
I'm involved in the high-quality research. As associate Principal Investigator for the PETs trial our site was the highest recruiter in the control arm. I am one of the site leads on an exciting new project looking at medical treatment to prevent kidney stones.
