I am a consultant Respiratory Physician caring for patients with a range of medical conditions relating to the lungs. I have a particular interest in the investigation of unexplained breathlessness, respiratory allergies and pleural diseases. I set up and run the breathlessness assessment and Cardio Pulmonary Exercise Testing service at Watford General Hospital, and along with my colleagues, Andy Barlow and Rahul Mogal, we run the Pleural diseases unit. I am also actively involved in the training of junior doctors specialising in medicine and respiratory medicine.
I specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of medical conditions relating to the lungs. My particular interests are: unexplained breathlessness, coughs, pleural diseases, asthma and respiratory allergies, recurrent chest infection, sleep apnoea, lung cancer (diagnosis and screening), chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and bronchoscopy.
I see both outpatients and inpatients with routine and complex respiratory conditions. I perform over 100 standard bronchoscopy, 300 cardio pulmonary exercise tests and 200 pleural procedures per year.
I am an Associate Postgraduate Dean at Health Education England, based in Cambridge, involved in the training of junior doctors working towards becoming consultants in the East of England. I am also a College Tutor for Medicine at Watford hospital, leading on the training of junior doctors in Internal Medicine. I also sit on the Clinical Governance Committee for Medefer.
In addition to my clinical work, I am an honorary visiting lecturer in Medicine at the University of Navarra, Spain.
I am a non Executive Director at Penrose Care, advising on corporate and care matters.
