"Working at Spire Southampton Hospital offers the opportunity to deliver exceptional, patient centred care within a state of the art, supportive, and forward thinking healthcare environment"
I am a Consultant Gynaecologist at University Hospital Southampton, with over 20 years of experience in women’s health. Alongside my MRCOG and MSc in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, I hold a Professional Diploma in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery, and have completed advanced training in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery.
My career reflects a lifelong commitment to professional development and providing the highest standard of care for women at every stage of life. My early training took place in Egypt, at one of the largest tertiary centres for women’s health in the Middle East, where I gained a strong foundation in managing complex gynaecological conditions. After achieving my RCOG membership, I moved to the UK to pursue advanced training in minimally invasive surgery. During my Fellowship at the Princess Anne Hospital, University Hospital Southampton, I completed the RCOG Advanced Training Modules in Benign Gynaecological Surgery, developing extensive experience in advanced laparoscopic techniques and the management of complex cases. I later undertook further specialist training in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, with a particular focus on endometriosis.
Driven by a keen interest in chronic pelvic pain and its complex nature, I pursued additional specialist training in neuropelveology and chronic pelvic pain management.
This has enabled me to offer highly individualised care to women experiencing long-standing or unexplained pelvic pain.
I adopt a patient-centred and holistic approach, working closely with colleagues in colorectal surgery, gastroenterology, urology, radiology, and interventional radiology to ensure each woman receives a comprehensive, multidisciplinary care plan.
I manage a broad range of gynaecological conditions, including menstrual disorders, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, and pelvic pain.
My particular areas of expertise are chronic pelvic pain, endometriosis, and minimally invasive (laparoscopic and robotic) gynaecological surgery.
My goal is to help women regain comfort, confidence, and control over their health through compassionate, evidence-based care.
In addition to my clinical work, I am an honorary clinical teacher at Southampton University, teaching Year 4 medical students.
