David Pratt underwent a hip replacement operation at Spire Regency Hospital in July 2013. The 70 year old from Poynton praises the care he received.

"I had been living with arthritis for a number of years prior to the operation, which caused a constant dull ache in the hip joints, as well as regular attacks of sharp pain.

"I am a keen sailor with a boat on Lake Windermere and it had got to the point where my condition was preventing me from going out on the water.

"I came to Spire Regency through my private healthcare insurance. I have to admit, having never been to hospital before in my whole life, there was some degree of reluctance on my part. But I needn't have worried - from arriving at reception to discharge after treatment, I could not criticise a thing.'

"Mr Barnes, my surgeon, was excellent, and I felt fully informed at each stage about what was going to happen and why. That really helped to put my mind at ease.'

"Prior to the operation I knew I was going to have to return at a later date for the same procedure on my other hip. My biggest worry - having never been in such an environment before - was that the first operation would leave me dreading having to undergo the second procedure.'

"But my experience was so positive I have no concerns about returning - I would certainly recommend Spire Regency."
