Orthopaedic Surgeon
BSc, MBBS, FRCS(Eng) (TR & Orth)
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Billy Jowett at Spire include:
I trained at Guy's and St Thomas' medical school in London, graduating in 1996. I subsequently worked in the Accident and Emergency Department at the hospital and taught anatomy at the medical school.
Following this I undertook basic surgical and advanced orthopaedic training rotations in the Wessex region. In 2005 I was an AO trauma fellow in Seattle, USA. I completed my training during 2006-07 with foot and ankle fellowships in Auckland, New Zealand and Melbourne, Australia, for which I was awarded an HCA International Travelling scholarship.
I was also awarded an American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society travelling fellowship for 2010. I practice purely foot and ankle surgery with a special interest in bunion surgery, foot, and ankle reconstructive surgery including total ankle replacement.
I also have a significant interest in the management of sports injuries to the foot and ankle, including arthroscopic surgery.
My research interests include sports injuries to the foot and ankle on which I have published and presented internationally. I am heavily involved in education of surgical trainees in my role as Surgical Tutor at Queen Alexandra Hospital.
