"Spire Portsmouth Hospital has a professional environment and supportive staff."
I am a Consultant Cardiologist currently working at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth. I have over 15 years experience in interventional Cardiology. I treat all aspects of general Cardiology, including but not exclusive to the assessment and management of chest pain, arryhythmias, heart failure, valve disease, cardiomyopathies, hypertension, lipid disorders and aortopathies.
I have a specialist interest in diagnosing and treating ischaemic heart disease including coronary angioplasty and stenting. This includes the management of both stable and unstable angina syndromes including complex coronary intervention. By incorporating my expertise in intra-coronary imaging, plaque modification and physiology, I optimise all interventions to aim for the best outcomes for my patients.
I graduated from St George's University of London in 2004 with a number of undergraduate accolades and completed my Cardiology training on the South London rotation, following completion of interventional fellowships at the former London Chest Hospital (now Bart's Heart Centre) and St. George's Hospital under the supervision of several renowned Cardiologists.
I also completed a period of clinical research culminating with the award of a research MD reporting on the mechanisms of DNA damage and repair in coronary artery disease. This was correlated with specialised intra-coronary imaging techniques with core analysis being performed in collaboration with the Royal Papworth Hospital, Cambridge and MedStar Washington Hospital Centre, USA.
In addition to being an experienced NHS Consultant Cardiologist, I hold a number of additional roles including being appointed a Deanery educational supervisor, a medical appraiser, mentoring position for interventional Cardiology trainees, editorial board member for both general medical and Cardiology journals and primary investigator in numerous large research trials.
