Professional profile

I qualified from St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical School in 1997. Having obtained my MRCP in 2001 I undertook Cardiology training in the Wessex area including specialist interventional fellowships in Southampton and Bournemouth.

I undertook a period of research on "Applications of thrombelastography in interventional cardiology" leading to the award of an MD in 2010 and I maintain an active research interest in novel interventional technologies, antiplatelet and antithrombotic therapies and cholesterol lowering medication.

I have been a Consultant Cardiologist in Portsmouth since 2010 dealing with all aspects of cardiology and specialising in Interventional Cardiology (balloon and stent treatment of coronary narrowings) from the radial approach (wrist).

Personal Profile

As a keen sportsman I represented the University of London at athletics and cricket, and played waterpolo and basketball at County level. I also like the challenge of endurance sporting events having completed amongst others "le Marathon de Sable" and the UK ironman triathlon.

I have travelled extensively with my wife. Highlights include dog-sledging in Greenland, treking in the Himalayas and the Andes, living with the Piaroa in the Orinoco and with Iban tribesmen in Borneo and travelling over 50,000km around Southern Africa in our own vehicle. I have a great interest in Natural History and wildlife photography.
