Mako
Total robotic knee replacement using Mako with Mr Goswami and Mr Makrides

Veronica Pennycuick

Both my knees were very painful, particularly going up and down stairs for some years and I eventually saw Mr Ved Goswami in July 2018 who advised, after an X-ray, that I would need a total knee replacement.

Mr Goswami said that robotic knee replacement surgery would shortly be available at Spire Little Aston Hospital and I would be able to have my operation done there. I had read about robotic-assisted surgery and had no qualms about having the very latest procedure.

Mr Goswami and Mr P Makrides performed the operation and I left hospital three days later. I was able to walk without crutches 10 days later and had total confidence in the joint.

My movement is good and with physiotherapy and daily exercises I have been able to push myself a little further each day. I certainly did not expect to be as mobile as I am five weeks after the operation. My other knee will need replacing soon and I would wish to have the Mako procedure again.
