Mako
My total knee replacement using Mako with Mr Ved Goswami

Marralyn Hemmings

Before my operation, I was in constant pain with my knee. It would not take my weight so I had to hold on to tables, chairs or worktops when getting up. I had to hold on with both hands to help hoist myself upstairs or lead with my other leg, which was beginning to complain too. My hip was beginning to be painful as a result.

The consultant discussed all my options and told me about the advantages of the Mako robotic joint replacement at Spire Little Aston. I had every confidence going to surgery, all the staff were calm and kind and explained what was going on. The staff on the ward were amazing and nothing was too much trouble and they were encouraging. Everything was explained at every stage and they gave lots of hints and tips from their experience to help me. I had no pain at any time.

I did everything that I was asked to do when at home. I had no pain and could walk around with confidence. I can get out of my chair without having to hold on, get up a step without the use of a stick and go for a walk without any pain.

My family and friends who have had this surgery previously have been amazed at how quick my progress has been.
