- Spire Little Aston Hospital awarded gold-standard Quality Data Provider status by the National Joint Registry (NJR) for the third consecutive year
The National Joint Registry has recognised colleagues at Spire Little Aston Hospital for meeting all mandatory audit requirements and for their exemplary adherence to the NJR’s national data quality standards. This gold award highlights the hospital’s strong commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in patient care.
The NJR collects and monitors high-quality orthopaedic data on hip, knee, ankle, elbow and shoulder joint replacements. Its purpose is to enhance patient safety, uphold standards of care, and improve the overall value of joint replacement surgery, while also providing performance feedback to orthopaedic clinicians and implant manufacturers.
The ‘NJR Quality Data Provider’ certificate scheme was introduced to offer hospitals a blueprint for reaching high-quality standards relating to patient safety and to reward those who have met the registry’s high targets in the achievement of the quality of the data collected.
The annual NJR Data Quality Audit compares the number of joint replacement procedures submitted to the registry to the number of procedures that have been carried out and recorded in the local hospital Patient Administration System. The audit ensures that the NJR is collecting and reporting the most complete, accurate data possible in all hospitals performing joint replacement operations, including Spire Little Aston Hospital.
This achievement also marks the third year in a row that the Sutton-Coldfield based hospital has met the NJR’s highest data quality standard.
