Mr Donald Adam
Consultant Vascular Surgeon
MB ChB, MD, FRCSEd, FRCSEd (Gen Surg)
I qualified from the University of Edinburgh and went on to gain extensive training in vascular and endovascular surgery in Edinburgh, Leicester and Adelaide, Australia. I was appointed as Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon in Birmingham in 2004. I have since been awarded a doctorate in vascular research at the University of Edinburgh and am an author of several publications on foam sclerotherapy.
I practise exclusively as a vascular and endovascular surgeon and offer the full range of treatment options (medical management, minimally-invasive therapies and open surgery) for patients with venous and arterial disease. I have a specialist interest in the management of lower limb venous disease (including varicose veins and leg ulceration) and aortic disease. I am a pioneer in keyhole vascular treatments and specialises in walk-in-walk-out procedures for varicose veins and leg ulcers. I use minimally invasive endovascular techniques, such as ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy and radiofrequency ablation.
I established the Birmingham Complex Endovascular Aortic Service and act as a European mentor for the minimally-invasive management of complex aortic aneurysms. I have a busy clinical practice in both of these sub-specialities and have published extensively on these topics in peer-reviewed medical journals.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Donald Adam at Spire include:
