Mr Amit Kotecha
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon
MB BS, MRCS(Glasg), FRCS(Orth)
I am a full-time Consultant providing orthopaedic hip services at Spire Little Aston Hospital, Sutton Coldfield. I specialise in treating adult hip pathologies. My special interests include hip replacements and treating failed (revision) hip replacements, this has enabled me to anticipate challenges with primary joint replacements and to improve my outcomes.
The procedures I undertake include hip replacement and revision of a hip replacement. I undertake a posterior approach for hip replacements sparing the important hip abductor muscles, helping for a speedy recovery and excellent postoperative outcome for patients.
I undertook my basic surgical training in South East London, at University Hospital Lewisham, gaining my Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS). My higher specialist orthopaedic training was taken in the West Midlands, within the Birmingham Orthopaedic Training Programme, leading to FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) and a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training. My advanced Arthroplasty Fellowship was taken at the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire, which allowed me to gain expertise in complex joint replacement procedures.
I present at numerous national and international meetings, and I have published multiple papers in scientific journals. In addition to my clinical work, I am also proud to be an honorary lecturer at the University of Leicester.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Amit Kotecha at Spire include:
