Mr Amit Kotecha
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon

I am an Orthopaedic Consultant providing specialist hip and knee surgery at Spire Little Aston Hospital and Spire Parkway Hospital. I specialise in treating adult hip and knee pathologies. My special interests include treating failed (revision) hip and knee replacements, this has enabled me to anticipate challenges with primary joint replacements and to improve my outcomes.
The procedures I undertake include hip replacement, knee replacement, knee arthroscopy, revision hip replacement and revision knee replacement. I now offer robotic-arm assisted joint replacements at Spire Little Aston Hospital, discover the next generation of hip and knee surgery with Mako. I undertake a posterior approach for hip replacements sparing the important hip abductor muscles, helping for a speedy recovery and excellent postoperative outcomes for patients. I implement an enhanced recovery programme after hip and knee replacements for safe and quicker recovery of the patients.
I undertook my basic surgical training in South East London, at University Hospital Lewisham, gaining my Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS). My higher specialist orthopaedic training was on the Birmingham Orthopaedic Training Programme, leading to FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) and a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training. My advanced Arthroplasty Fellowship was at the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire, which allowed me to gain expertise in complex joint replacement procedures.
I present at numerous national and international meetings, and I have published multiple papers in scientific journals. In addition to my clinical work, I am also proud to be an Honorary Senior lecturer at the University of Leicester.
