Mr James Campbell

I have been a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist in Leeds for 23 years and have a special interest in complex obstetrics and benign gynaecology.
I specialise in general gynaecological surgery with specific interest in menstrual disorders, fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cysts and some urogynaecology. I perform laparoscopic (keyhole) surgeries including hysterectomy and hysteroscopic procedures under local and general anaesthetic. I carry out surgeries for prolapse and incontinence.
I completed my postgraduate training in London and was acting senior lecturer in obstetrics and gynaecology at St Bartholomew's Hospital, London in 1992-1993 before moving to Leeds.
I was the lead clinician for gynaecology at Leeds teaching hospitals trust (LTHT) from 2016 to 2019. I retired from full time NHS employment at LTHT in September 2021 and returned immediately to my consultant post on a less than full time job plan (retire and return). My current contract with LTHT ends on the 31 May 2023. I have been awarded an Honorary consultant contract at LTHT for 12 months.
