Professional profile

I aim to offer appointments within 1-2 weeks of referral and to see urgent referrals immediately. I am conscious of the anxiety that is caused on occasions by waiting times for NHS appointments and assure parents that I will never request investigations in the private sector that, if without medical insurance, they may find more expensive than they anticipated.

The first appointment is for 45 minutes, allowing time to make sure that the children are settled. Patients should be referred by their general practitioner or a consultant.

I have been a consultant paediatrician in Leeds since 1988, retiring from NHS work in 2013. I have practised at the Spire Hospital since its opening over 25 years ago. I have specialist practice in paediatric respiratory medicine, chronic fatigue, infection and immunology. I have also practised general paediatric medicine throughout my career.

I specialise in all general paediatric medicine, with a particular emphasis on the chest.

Personal Profile

I  grew up in Leeds before moving to Cambridge and London to  complete my education. I have been back since 1982 and we have raised four boys in  the delightful environment of Yorkshire. Family and work has left little time for other interests but as a family we have given (too much!) time to Leeds United. Now  that the children are grown up we have more time for other passions including theatre, ballet and opera. Plus walking the dogs, of course!
