Professional profile

I was appointed as a consultant dermatologist at the Leeds General Infirmary and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Leeds in 1995. I undertook my medical training in Cambridge and in dermatology in Stoke-on-Trent and Manchester.

I practise in general dermatology including skin cancer but have a special interest in contact dermatitis (eczema) and occupational skin disease. I have on-going research in these areas and have published widely with in excess of 100 peer reviewed publications and have written chapters in several major textbooks.

My interest is in the diagnosis and treatment of allergic disorders of the skin.

I was the lead clinician for dermatology 2003 – 2013 at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

I was a council member of the British Society Allergy and Clinical Immunology 2012-15. I am a committee member of the British Society Cutaneous Allergy. Between 1998-2007 I held the position of treasurer and between 2009-2012 I was president. Likewise, I was treasurer of the European Society for Contact Dermatitis between 2003-10 and membership secretary 2010-14.

I am an advisor to patient support groups including Allergy UK.
