I am a senior Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at Spire Leeds Hospital and at the Yorkshire Heart Centre, Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust. I have over 17 years' experience as a Consultant caring for patients with all types of heart rhythm disorders and a vast experience in pacemaker and defibrillator implantation.

I am an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders (cardiac arrhythmia). I treat the whole spectrum of heart rhythm problems including atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, ectopic beats and ventricular tachycardia including epicardial ablation. I specialise in all aspects of managing heart rhythm abnormalities including diagnostic testing, medical therapy and I have extensive experience in both radiofrequency catheter ablation and cryoablation procedures to treat, and in many patients, cure heart rhythm problems.

I am skilled in implantation and follow-up of cardiac electronic devices including loop recorders, pacemakers, biventricular pacemakers for heart failure and defibrillators (ICDs). I also lead the supra-regional left atrial appendage occlusion service for Yorkshire and the surrounding area, and I am the only fully trained implanting physician in the region.

I qualified with an Honours Degree in Medicine from the University of Manchester in 1996. I undertook specialist training in Cardiology and Electrophysiology in the West Yorkshire region and completed my PhD thesis in 2004 at the University of Leeds. Prior to my consultant appointment, I was fortunate enough to spend a fellowship year in Cardiac Electrophysiology and Devices in Christchurch, New Zealand, where I received intensive training in the management of patients with cardiac arrhythmias before retuning to the UK to complete my training.

My clinical interests focus on the diagnosis and advanced management of cardiac rhythm disorders, including the assessment of palpitations through investigations such as cardiomemo recording and cardiac MRI scanning. I specialise in interventional cardiac electrophysiology, with expertise in cardiac resynchronisation therapy and defibrillator implantation, as well as procedures such as left atrial appendage occlusion.
