I have been a consultant in medical oncology since 2010, specialising in gastrointestinal malignancies since 2013. I specialise in the oncological management of patients with colorectal cancer, including the administration of chemotherapy and immunotherapy. I am committed to collaborating with my patients and other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide high quality care that puts the individual at the centre of the decision-making process.
I am a substantive Consultant Medical Oncologist at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, core member of the colorectal cancer MDT for the South East Sector of Greater Manchester, member of the metastatic HPB MDT of Greater Manchester and Acute Oncology Lead for Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.
My main interests are clinical and translational research and real-world data. Among others, I have been awarded the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) Translational Research Fellowship in 2010 which led to PhD degree. I am a reviewer for oncology journals and have authored or co-authored more than 90 articles or chapters in peer-reviewed journals/books.
I was the leader of the UGI Oncology Service in Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust (does not offer chemotherapy for Upper Gastrointestinal malignancies). I was the Research Lead of the Oncology Service at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
Throughout my career I have chaired and participated in various national and international committees. I have been the Clinical Lead for Acute Oncology for Greater Manchester, past Chair of the ESMO Working Group and am currently a member of the ESMO Resilience Task Force and the European Organisation For Research And Treatment Of Cancer (EORTC) Gastrointestinal Cancer Group. I was proud to lead the feasibility study for cancer registration in Greece through the EUROCHIP-2 programme.
In addition to my clinical work, I am also proud to Chair the Oncology Pro Working Group (OPWG) of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) and supervise the quality of ESMO's online educational resources. I have been a member of various national and international committees. I am a member of ESMO Gastro-Intestinal Tumours faculty group and more recently, as a member of the ESMO Resilience Task Force, we have developed an extensive portfolio to evaluate wellbeing and offer support to oncology professionals both Nationally and Internationally. I was proud to lead the Feasibility study on cancer registration in Greece through the EUROCHIP-2 programme and a core member of the PanHellenic Association for Continual Medical Research.
I am first name author and co-author in more than 60 articles in papers or chapters in peer review journals/books. I am a reviewer for oncology journals.
